I wrote a 17 page term paper during culinary school in one night with only this book! This book opened my eyes to the incredible chemistry behind baking. If you want to understand why things react the way they do in this medium, I strongly suggest this book!

How Baking Works

This book is as it is discribed. I thought it would give more explaination of why certain things happen when baking. For example if you use cold ingredients like eggs in baking, your cake may bake with a dome in the middle. I didn't find any explainations such as this, only differences between ingredients such as AP Flour and Cake Flour. But not what would happen if you used one as opposed to the other. I was looking for a book that would help me to understand why certain things happen, like why my cake sometimes rises light and airy as opposed to not rising and being heavy. I guess more the results of the chemisty of baking .

Wonderful Pie Recipes

I got my mother another of this cookbook, as her copy was falling apart - after 30 years of hard use. My mother has had this pie cook book since I was a little girl, and she is an amazing pie maker. My mother has imparted to me her tricks of the trade and a lot of her base recipes come from this classic cook book. These recipes taste great and have simple instructions, and come out good every time. I have picked up pie recipes here and there, and tried other cookbooks but this is the classic standard cookbook that every serious pie maker should have. The recipes themselves come out great and they are such that you can tweak it here and there, if you want, to put your own signature on it. This cook book covers a comprehensive range of different kinds of pies. Highly recommend!

Beautiful coffe table book

'Ancient Captials of Thailand' describes the old important cities and captials of Southern Thailand. These include Sukothai, Ayuthaya, Kampeng and several other cities. The book is beautifully illustrated with more than 350 photographs. It also provides site maps and descriptions of the different places and the major temples and structures. Thus, it's not just a 'picture book", but I can recommend this book both for content and quality of the pictures. The book does not cover the cities of the Northern Kingdoms (e.g., Lanna), this is supposed to be the topic of another book.

Dr. Frederic (Ric) Martini received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in comparative and functional anatomy. He is the co-author of six other undergraduate texts on anatomy or anatomy & physiology. He is currently on the faculty of the University of Hawaii and remains affiliated with the Shoals Marine Laboratory, a joint venture between Cornell University and the University of New Hampshire. Dr. Martini is a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society, the American Physiological Society, and the American Association of Anatomists. He is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Association of Biology Teachers, the Society for College Science Teachers, the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology, the Western Society of Naturalists, and the International Society of Vertebrate Morphologists.

The pages were not bound well at all and fell out almost every time I turned them. About 2-7 pages fell out of each chapter. This product is not well made. Buy elsewhere if necessary.

Lots of laughs! Hope they make this into a movie!

I am always a happy camper when ordering from Amazon! They never let me down. We pre-ordered the book during the Summer and it arrived the day of it's release. People don't notice the small stuff but I do. As I took the book out of the package I noticed the book has a smooth texture on the front cover. The book cover in general has a smooth grip- like texture, lol. I always love the smell of a new book but the smooth outside texture of the book adds a good feature to the book.
The book has comic like pictures, but don't think it's a comic strip type book overall. It is a well worded book from the first page to the last page (217 pages overall) each page has a complete word filled page but the pictures adds to the imagination of the child reading this book. My son started reading this book series at 8. He's now 10 and he LOVES this book series so much he looks forward to the new books that come out and every once in a while re-reads the older book series. We even have family movie nights and I don't mind watching the couple movies that have been made from the "Diary of A Whimpy Kid" book series. I'm 32 and I find parts of the movie hillarious so I can only imagine reading this book as a kid. I can't say enough good things about this book or any other book from the series. If you're a parent like me, you'd rather watch your child read VS. Playing video games or watching TV programs. At least while reading it engages a child's imagination as well as improving their spelling. Some studies has shown that kids, especially those that are more visual learners, spelling improves the more they read. :)
I will be on the lookout for more books by this same Author (Jeff Kinney). Don't hesitate to buy the book for your child (ren). I took a glimpse of a few pages already while my son is still at school and it's pretty funny! Ha ha ha. I posted some pictures for previewing. :-D

Perfect Guide from Pre-Purchase Consideration to Post-Purchase Evaluation

As mentioned before, the author is very resourceful and quick to respond to questions. After browsing through the chapters and reviewing some of the additional teacher resources (designed for classroom use), I found the book to very highly consistent with professional standards of successful implementation. She walks through and explains how to properly conduct many of the essential, yet often overlooked stages of process planning, vendor selection, and post-implementation evaluation. For being just under 200 pages, this is about as comprehensive as you'll find.

Modern ERP is a great book for ERP newcomers looking to understand the implications of ERP as well as professional / experienced ERP salespeople, consultants, or system administrators looking to refine their skills and knowledge base.
