Great tips

My teen daughter loves drawing fashion ever since she took a class at her Jr. High. This book as so many tips and techniques. It shows so many different figures to draw clothes on including children. It also shows techniques for different types of materials too. She has used this book daily since it arrived, including taking it on vacation to the beach. This is a book I see her using for a long time. She looked at many books and this is the one she ultimately picked and adores.

What it means to be Celtic

The Celts have had a long and complex journey, both through history and myth, and this entry in the excellent Very Short Introduction series is a great place to start tracing that journey. Some historians question whether 'Celtic' is even a meaningful or useful term. Is it a modern invention? Who were, or are, these people or peoples we call 'Celts'? Cunliffe warns at the outset that finding reliable answers will not be easy, then proceeds to make it as easy as possible.

He views the subject from various angles - linguistic, archeological, Classical (the Roman and Greek accounts), ethnological - and gradually builds a coherent picture. His bias reflects the current orthodoxy that cultural influence spreads without the mass migrations that used to be assumed -- ideas and customs spread, not necessarily people. He encourages us to take a view from the Atlantic, and see the Celts as European peoples who traded along that seaboard. Some readers might wish for more detailed maps -- the author or publisher seems to assume that you will know which rivers are the Marne, Danube, etc.

This is an authoritative and accurate work, although I did spot one surprising blunder: On page 137, the ceremony of All Souls is described as taking place on October 31, preceding All Saints. In fact it follows All Saints, on November 2.

Cunliffe's prose is very readable, except that he has a fondness for litotes ("It is not unreasonable to suppose..." "It is not unlikely that..."). This can get not unirritating after a while.

A great deal of misinformation surrounds Celticism. It has become a tool for propagandists and nationalists. There is a certain amount of healthy debunking in this book, but the Celts emerge alive and well. Before I read it, I thought I was of Celtic descent on my mother's side. After reading it, I still do, but now I have some idea of what that means. If you want to know about the Celts, then you need to choose your sources with care, because - as Cunliffe hints - there are many 'lunatic fringe' publications out there. This is a safe place to start.

Exceptional !

For someone who wants a quick and dirty introduction yet up to date book on the ancient Celts I cannot recommend a better book. Although it is quite a short book it is highly superior to books havigng the three times the number of pages this book contains.

Although one may sometimes shy away from short books on complex topics like the Celts take heart for by placing yourself in the hands of Barry Cunliffe you are putting yourself in the hands of a master.

A winner!

Based on scholarship - but...

Finally, an introduction to the Celts based on scholarship and not wishful thinking. Popular books make the Celts out to be either the greatest heroes or the worst villains of Europe. This intro relies on archeology, linguistics (philology) and historical sources to tease out who the Celts were (and even IF they were). Origins, culture, migrations, art, and movements are covered. Modern treatment of the Celts is also covered, and how a new mythology has grown up around them. This overview provides a departure point for interested students to begin their studies with some solid grounding.

The reason for 4 stars vs 5 is the lack of comment on genetic studies. The author is clearly aware of research in this field but makes no real mention of it. For example, I look at a distribution map of haplogroup R1b and I see it apparently mirroring the present day distribution of "Celts". But I also recognize my inexpert tendency to draw these conclusions may not be scientifically warrantied. I would love to have read the author's comments on genetic investigations, and recommendations for further study. Genetic studies have something to offer, but how does it overlap the other disciplines?

Otherwise, great little book. Highly recommended.

Tip 2: Divide the Kitchen Into Zones

The kitchen functions at its best when it’s set up in zones. There are five main zones: cooking, preparation, cleaning, storage, and food. Everything in your kitchen should fit into one of these five categories. If you have an item that doesn’t fit, it may not belong in the kitchen.

A. COOKING Your cooking space should include spices, oils and vinegars, cooking utensils, pots and pans, pot holders, trivets, and other tools.

B. CLEANING All things related to cleaning your kitchen should be in this zone, which is typically centered around the dishwasher and kitchen sink. Categories include kitchen cleaners, under the sink items (sponges, paper towels, microfiber cloths, trash bags, dishwasher detergent), recycling bins, and trash cans.

C. PREPARATION Everything needed to prep meals goes in the preparation zone. Items might include mixing bowls, knives, cutting boards, kitchen gadgets, blender, and other appliances. Specific areas will form within this zone, like the baking and school lunch stations

D. STORAGE Items in the storage zone include food containers, silverware, dishes, glasses, and small appliances.

E. FOOD The pantry is considered the food zone. If you don’t have a pantry, designate a few cupboards or a standing cabinet in which to store food items.

The most concise organizing book in a gorgeous package!

I have read several home organizing books, but *this* is the one I have been waiting for!

The first thing I noticed right away is that there is no skimping on quality, here. The colors are vibrant, the paper is nice and glossy and thick. The corners of the front and back covers are metal-tipped, which is nice because not only does it give the book weight, but it protects the corners from bending and fraying. Inside, the pictures are plentiful, inspiring, and gorgeous. Just flipping through the book will make you feel motivated enough to start tackling an area of your house!

The book is broken down into various "challenge" rooms - kitchen, dining room, garage, etc. Each room is then broken down into specific tasks, which you can follow along in the 15 week time frame, or go at your own pace. There are tons of ideas on saving space, organizing, and lest you feel overwhelmed at the state of your current household, the author has also many suggestions on how to start the process (which is sometimes the hardest part). If you follow the book page by page, at the end of roughly 15 weeks your home will be clean and organized! The best part is that you can work at your own pace. The process is manageable enough that you can do a little bit every day...or set aside a couple of hours on the weekends and knock out an entire room in one swoop.

It's clear that the author has spent a lot of time compiling this book. It is well written and detailed enough for those that need someone to point the way step-by-step, but it also leaves room for those that are not complete novices to join in the fun. There are tons of ideas that I've never seen on any other blog or website, which was refreshing. The book stands on its own, but you can also pair it with the suggestions and printables found on the author's website.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and hope the author decides to write a Volume 2!

It made me realize how hanging on to "stuff" helps us not become the best we can be

I was so excited to receive this book after pre-ordering it in November. A year ago January I had just lost my Mom and also inherited all of her things and her home. Not only did this challenge help me organize my own home and belongings but hers as well. It made me realize how hanging on to "stuff" helps us not become the best we can be. The 14 week challenge helped me get my life and brain functioning again, my house still stayed in order a year later. This book is beautiful and informative and it will serve as a constant reminder of how wonderful it is when your house is in order. Toni is the guru of organizing and helping you see all you are capable of in your own home and life. A+

Gorgeous Package, Lacks Helpful Content

The book itself is gorgeous (which is why there are 2 stars). The pages are thick and lovely, the cover is gorgeous with corner protectors, and the photographs are beautiful. Unfortunately, original content is lacking. The book follows the same plan that is available free of charge on the author's website. While the pictures are excellent, the items used by the author for organization are not sourced; or, if they are, I'm unable to find them. If your desire is to have a pretty coffee table book, then this would suffice. If, however, you are looking for real organizational guidance, this is an expensive way to go about it. I would suggest the free plan on the author's website instead.

Pretty good so far

The amount of primary sources on here are the main chunk of the book. The beginning part of the book is why I wouldn't give it 5 stars. The brief summary of the history of Manifest Destiny in America is a real let down. I was expecting a lot more in terms of information and history on Manifest Destiny but the amount of primary sources more than made up for the disappointment.

Gadi Kaufman is a Certified Neuromuscular Therapist located in Santa Monica, California. Gadi has over 20 years experience in the practice of manual therapy as a CNMT, CSCS, and CAK. He has a degree in physical education, certification in neuromuscular therapy, applied kinesiology and Strain Counterstrain Technique. His extensive knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body’s biomechanics has enabled him to create a unique combination of manual techniques which address the body as one functional unit. This allows him to address the causes of the pain by correcting the muscular imbalance that leads to chronic stress and vulnerability.

This book is a gift from heaven and I am so grateful I found it

I have had 3 instances over that last 6 years where i have had debilitating muscle spasms. Each time they have lasted 2-3 months, with most of that time in uncontrollable pain. 1st happened when I was closing a trunk, second I was cutting fruit at the counter and third and just happened was holding a door for someone.

After a week in bed unable to move I decided to look on amazon for other pain releif and in my search saw Gadi's book go by. There were only a few reviews but the premise seemed plausible so I bought it.

Within an hour I did the positions while lying in bed. It is now 4 hours later and it is as if I am almost back to my normal self, no more spasms or pain!!! :)

I cannot believe how lucky I was to find this. I was sure I had another month or two of pain and now I know the secret.

Thank you Gadi, you have no idea how appreciative I am for your work.

This book shows you exactly how to do the technique- Works Great

"Gadi's technique of Strain Counterstrain has really helped me with my back pain. It is a pain free technique and I felt instant relief. The best part is that Gadi teaches you these techniques so you can help yourself at home. They really work. I recommend his book, Relief from Back Pain in 90 Seconds. There are wonderful illustrations and descriptions so you can practice the technique on yourself. Of course it's always better to go in for a session with Gadi. He can relax my entire nervous system in one session. I walk out feeling GREAT!!!"
Chiropracters made my back pain worse and created more problems. This gentle and effective technique gets to the source of the problem, MUSCLE SPASMS. Only Gadi's method can release muscle spasms and relax the nervous system.

I have also had therapy with Gadi and have been practicing at home the release techniques outlined in the book.
They are relieving the myofascial pain syndrome in my back and shoulders. Seeing Gadi and doing the exercises
in this book is my last resort after having tried chiropractic care, trigger point shots, shiatsu massage, physical therapy,
and accupunture. I am beginning to sleep better due to my muscles learning how to relax and experiencing a lessening of high
night time cortisol levels. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a proven method of pain relief
for tight spastic muscles.

I am a tutor and I must say that I am pleased with my purchase of the GRE Prime 2017 Graduate Record Exam by the Argo Brothers. The book is very detailed and informative to the reader, as well as to teachers and tutors. My students are pleased with the 800+ mini videos and the free live support. In chapter 14, the math primer walks you through key concepts in arithmetic. It is explained thoroughly to its reader and provides step by step instructions that is needed to solve the problem. I will recommend the GRE Prime 2017 to students and also tutors who are preparing their students.

I would recommend using all of the features provided in this book

I am currently a retired teacher and over the past 35 years, I have had my fair share of preparing students for the Graduate Record Exam. I usually never have the patience to write a product review, but for several reasons I felt inclined to write a review for the GRE Prep 2017 Test Prep Book by Argo Brothers. This book is similar to Kaplan but offers more. This is your standard test prep book with a comprehensive overview and then x amount of practice exams. This book comes with a total of 8 exams compared to 6 offered by Kaplan and 4 offered by Princeton. Ample amount of practice question and tests. The live support feature included in this book is most certainly the #1 appealing add-on and makes this book automatically a required test prep book when studying for the Graduate Record Exam. I have already integrated this GRE Prep book into my curriculum for my current students. I skimmed some of the videos that are provided to supplement the book, and they are very helpful for students. I would recommend using all of the features provided in this book. One thing that does erk me about this book is that the margins are close to the page, so there is a lot of material being thrown on the page. Other than that, I think this book is probably one of the best books out on the market to date.

I bought this for preparation for the GRE. I know I could get most of the material online at the websites, but I like to have the actual material to review. I've order it on Amazon; this book came on time , no delays, so I could start my practice right away. Yes ,no matter what they write on the covers like "100% higher score" and "number one book" : there is no test preparation book that will really ensure you ace the GRE, but practicing the types of questions you will face on the GRE and developing strategies for solving the questions - one way to improve. Using Argo Brothers GRE prep book which contains 8 Full-Length Practice Exams, it was very helpful for me. As with anything, I believe that practice makes perfect, and this book gives you access to a lot of practice content. The book not only provides strategy and material review, it also provides tons of questions with explanations. I am not sure how close the question to "official " GRE test, but it is important to have the habit of test taking, and format recognition. Also, there are a lot of online materials once you purchase the book so it is a good book for me.

Great novella

Awesome novella. I loved it. It moves a little fast but it sure packs a lot into so few pages. This little novella also does a great job at demonstrating Cynthia Eden's writing style and personality, so if you want to try out her books but want to start with a small stand-alone novella before you dive into her other paranormal romance series, then this is a great place to start.

Short and fantastic!

This was more of a novella but Cynthia Eden knows how to write! This is a complete story with danger, mystery and instant attraction that turns in to love. Mick is the hardened ex cop and Savannah is the femme fatale vampire. I felt like I was in an old black and white Dick Tracey movie. It was fantastic!

This is a well written objective account of Rommel's ability as a commander and his tactics. The book starts with a short overview of Rommel's actions in World War I. Then takes us to his command of 7 Panzer in France and going right through the creation and command of the Africa Korps and the desert campaign. And continuing with his command at Normandy in 1944. Lewin uses as his notes the Rommel Papers edited by Liddel Hart to help make his case.

The book shows us the sterling victories and defeats and what surrounded them. He does not seem to hide any facts from the reader. And gives us a truly balanced perspective of what really transpired.
