Haunting Blackie

Cyborg Blackie was rescued from torture at a center by a woman, who promised to join him on the awaiting space escape. When she doesn't join them, he's let down, and can't stop thinking about her.
Too much time has gone by, that the woman wouldn't be alive any longer.
Imagine his amazement when she turns out to be one of the pair of women they save from space pirates. How is it possible?
Eve and her littermates were the one thing that made the Cyborgs escape possible at all, but when their time came to escape with them, they were left behind - facing judgement and punishment. In the end, only Eve and her sister survived. Now fighting space pirates, their end seem to be imminent, unless something unexpected comes along..
Smutty fluff, cyborgs and betrayal in a great combo.

Return to the Cyborg Garden!

Laurann never disappoints! Villainous Blackie, the council's emissary and champion gets his HEA with a surprise heroine.I wish the page count was higher as it it time for some of these writers to get fleshing out these stories to be at least 300 pages. All in all, it was a great return to the Garden planet!

Delicious in every way!

Oh so delicious!
I have to admit I was rather reluctant to read Blackie’s story. He hasn’t really always been at the top of my favorites; however, he proves the reader wrong by showing that even the coldest can change with a little love. Blackie is totally hot in this installment to the Cyborg Seduction Series! Eve was the perfect woman to tame this beast.
The story begins on earth with Eve helping Blackie escape. Blackie is naïve to his situation because he has been in captivity, so upon seeing Eve, he is surprised when his instincts kick in, and he wants to own her. Thinking they will reunite after his escape, Blackie is left saddened when Eve is nowhere to be found. Little does he know, however, their paths are destined to cross once more.
The first in her line, Eve was created to be a canine unit. Her kind helped cyborgs escape earth. She fell deeply for Blackie, and hasn’t forgotten him. Both Eve, and her littermate, Danica, are the only two of their kind left. They travel space, seeking any job to help them survive.
The story really takes off when Eve and Danica find themselves at the mercy of cyborgs. They are both a little stunned that cyborgs have survived all this time. The long-awaited reunion between Eve and Blackie is bitter-sweet, however, when Eve and Danica learn their part in cyborg history was omitted, and no cyborg has any knowledge of their help. Blackie and his friend Gene are determined to discover the meaning of this, and this is where the story really gets interesting.
The book ends on a cliff hanger with cyborg Gene and Eve’s littermate, Danica. They were mentioned off, and on, throughout the book. It is obvious the two are infatuated with oneanother. However, fearing the possibility of falling in love, and becoming a mate to Gene, Danica escapes Garden by stealing Gene’s ship. Little does she know, Gene is done playing nice, and is going to claim her. No more waiting. Danica is out of time. *Sigh* :D
I really enjoyed the character development in this story. Blackie evolves from dark-follower, to a very captivating and powerful man. Danica is hilarious. Her comedic timing is refreshing, and the sisterly banter between her and Eve brings a fresh reprieve to certain situations.
Old faces reappear while on Garden, and we learn some interesting details about Krell and his female, as well as, and interesting detail about Zorus.
You will not be disappointed with this book. The formula is somewhat the same as the ones before, but it is no less enjoyable. It is best to read the entire series in order. Although Dohner fleshes out details to catch her readers up, I found it more enjoyable reading everything straight through.
